The project GIESTA – Women and Girls in the Interior and Rural areas – Promoting Equality between Women and Men highlights ‘giesta’ since it is a resistant species along mountains. That same resistance characterizes women in the interior of Portugal, particularly in rural areas. Devolped by Associação Fragas Aveloso – Associação para a Interação Ambiental, Científica, Comunitária e Cultural, the strategic goal of the project is to intervine among women and girls in the rural communities of the interior of the country, specifically in the municipality of Lafões, S. Pedro do Sul.
The project is funded by POISE and has Manuela Tavares as its coordinator.
