Joana Topa is a psychologist with a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Minho, Portugal. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maia (UMAIA) and a Visiting Assistant Professor at ISCSP - University of Lisbon. She is currently a full member of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies (CIEG) at ISCSP - University of Lisbon, and a collaborating researcher at the Psychology Research Centre of the University of Porto.
Her research focuses on gender studies, migration, gender-based violence, social inequalities, diversity, and inclusion, adopting intersectional, decolonial, and critical lens.
